Pulla

Hanwoven Hemp  Footwear , popularly known as Pulle in Himachal , It is made from the Bhang/Cannabis grass., which is found in upper regions of the  Kullu valley, they have a very special feature that these are worn inside temples and monasteries by the priest and people often wear these inside house and kitchen.

Hemp Pulle footwear are handmade by women artisans in Himachal following a long lineage of tradition.

The grass is cut and dried before the actual process begins. It is then stretched and made into long ropes by intertwining which makes it strong and increases the tensile strength. Just like any other fabric/thread it is then spun on the spindle, also known as takli.

The upper surface of the Pulle is embroidered in bright contrasting colours of Geometric patterns, resembling the border decoration of the Kullu Shawl and Caps.

The natural antibacterial properties of hemp ensure that there is minimal germ buildup which helps keep bad odour at bay.
